Dr. Mathias Bauer
Mathias gathered over 25 years of experience in data mining, artificial intelligence and machine learning. He founded mineway - the precursor of KIANA Systems - in 2001 as a senior researcher of the renowned German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). With over 70 publications, Mathias has also built a truly international reputation within the scientific machine learning community. Mathias is a DFKI research fellow and a member of the editoral board of the Journal of User Modeling and User-Adapted Interaction. He holds a PhD and Master Degree in Computer Science from the University of Saarbrücken, Germany.
Patrick is responsible for everything technology at KIANA Systems. His career comprises over 20 years linking data science with the right technologies. A well-respected senior researcher at the German Research Center For Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Patrick was a co-founder of mineway, responsible for the management of data science projects and development of technology infrastructure. Patrick holds a degree in Computer Science from the university of Saarbrücken, Germany.
With over 10 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking and building data-driven companies, Ushan leads KIANA’s commercial activities and is responsible for its strategic direction. Prior to joining KIANA, Ushan was a Vice President at Bertelsmann, where he led its big data strategy and helped building several business information companies. Having studied Engineering, Computer Science and Management at KIT, Oxford, Columbia and Berkeley, he acts as a bridge between all disciplines.

At the border between Germany and France and within Europe's biggest software cluster, Saarbrücken, the capital of the Saarland region is a perfect strategic location for KIANA's headquarters and home to many world-class strong research institutions and rich with culture. The city itself is also considered on of Europe's leading sites for computer science and in this capacity home to its own university's renowned computer science department, two Max Planck institutes and the world-renowned DFKI.
